Sentinel is the independent technical department most multi-family buildings need but few have. We coordinate trades, engineers, and consultants, and maintain the structured record that holds everyone accountable.

Founder

James Stone

Licensed General Contractor with over 25 years of construction experience across the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland. James has managed multi-family residential, commercial, and renovation projects, including new construction and strata-scale builds, and holds an active BC residential builder's licence.

Director of Operations

Andrew Sturgess

Andrew brings 12+ years across concrete high-rise, multi-family, and residential renovations, plus three years as a multi-family Superintendent overseeing inspections, trades, and deficiency resolution. As primary point of contact, Andrew coordinates inspections, reporting timelines, and stakeholder updates throughout the stewardship program.

Director of Construction Services

Dan Hirai

Dan leads field inspections and oversees Sentinel's construction services team. A UBC business graduate and Red Seal carpenter, Dan has been a multi-family owner-operator since 2008, bringing hands-on experience in building systems, repair coordination, and construction management.

Director of Technology

Rachael DePatie

Rachael brings over a decade of experience in construction technology and data systems. She is responsible for Sentinel's reporting platform and ensures every inspection is delivered as a clear, photo-documented report that building stakeholders can act on immediately.

Director of Sales

Julie Waterton

Julie brings an extensive background in sales, training, and client relations, including leading one of Western Canada's top cosmetics counters and serving as Regional Trainer. Most recently a Customer Relations Coordinator in residential real estate, managing relationships between homeowners, developers, and building stakeholders.
